Grey

Today I convinced myself that there could be nothing worse than my lot - a sick baby and horrible weather. Pretty sure this is not true & today is almost over!

i heart stuffed moa

After a hiatus between posts I have some more fascinating things to say...ready...I truly heart the big stuffed moa bird in the otago museum!
This badly furred bird sends Reuben wild (he make noises specially reserved for stanleydogs) and signals that I have made it to a place of refuge - to eat, feed and sit down. Ok have to admit I have learnt a few things here too, like Sir Edmund Hillary was a New Zealander (keep it to yourself). Edmund's cup and gloves are framed in perpex in the stairwell. Charles has a stronger brain than I if we measure strength with the faulty brain ball versus machine. And public spaces and these kind of places are invaluable for people to feel like they belong to a city.
xxx love you all

Beautiful day, stunning views of St Kilda all around good day. Charles was feeling the surfing pull very much today but must remember we are only borrowing a car and the trip is pretty far from our place on the hill.

I have felt a bit like I'm gathering information on Dunedin and haven't felt ready to post anything + waiting on our broadband (due 28th June)!!!

We are off the the mid-winter festival tonight (again pushing the wee boy to his limits) very cold from such a clear day but hoping it's worth it for the lanterns and atmosphere down in the Octagon (will take some pictures tonight).

Love to all

Q. Why do cats stink?

A. Because they are dirty creatures...

Scarface Claw is a fictitious tom cat who features in the Hairy Maclary children's stories written by New Zealand author Lynley Dodd. A large, black cat with big yellow eyes and chunks missing from his ears, Scarface has a reputation as the "most vomitous Tom in town"[1].

SS Dunedin

Did you know that the SS Dunedin successfully beat the Aussies in the frozen meat trade with mother England? Oh yes, 1882 was the winning year! The ship sailed with a host of meaty cargo and kept it cold all the way to the markets: 4331 goats, 598 lambs and 22 pig carcasses, 246 kegs (one keg = 45kgs!) of butter, 2226 sheep tongues (yummy) and your usual assortment of hare, pheasant, turkey and chicken.

In thinking about all this the Butcher's count their frozen chickens and keep their eye's fixed on The Weather Channel as the setting of the sails draws near for their very own voyage across the ditch.
